**Currently, the last date for payment of property taxes without penalty is AUGUST 31st or the last business day in August. Starting in 2014, this date will change to JUNE 30th or the last business day in June. Please keep this in mind when budgeting and planning for the future.**
TAX / ASSESSMENT INFORMATION:
Are you looking for tax / assessment information for a property in the Town of Claresholm? This information is available for a fee depending on the information you require.
If you require information solely on assessed value on a property and the property tax amount based on the current mill rate, please complete THIS FORM and fax to (403) 625-3869 along with a copy of your cheque in the amount of $15 payable to the Town of Claresholm.
If you require more comprehensive information including whether or not the property taxes have been paid and if there are any outstanding utilities, please complete THIS FORM and fax to (403) 625-3869 along with a copy of your cheque for $15 payable to the Town of Claresholm.
Should you require a Tax Certificate with the information noted above, please make the cheque payable for $20 and specify that a Tax Certificate is requested on the above form.
Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPPs) is available to all taxpayers. This is a monthly payment plan, by direct debit ONLY, with payment taken the 3rd of each month starting in January through to December. New applicants must sign up by December 21, 2012 for the next calendar year. This is the only time new applicants are accepted. Your tax account must have a zero balance to qualify for this payment program. Taxpayers on this program do not adhere to the August 31st tax payment deadline. Please see the sidebar to the left for all forms related to this program.
**A 14% penalty will be applied to all property tax accounts that have any outstanding balances on September 1st, 2012.**
Prepayment of the full amount of property taxes for 2013 by January 31st, 2013 will give taxpayers a 1.25% discount. This payment is based on the amount due in 2012.

2011 ASSESSMENT ROLL for the 2012 TAX LEVY is available to view in its entirety HERE. Every property’s 2011 assessment is available in this document by CIVIC ADDRESS. If you have questions, please contact the Town Office.
Please remember that your property assessment is a reflection of market activity with a valuation date of July 1, 2011 and a physical condition date of December 31, 2011. In instances where the assessed value of a property increases and the mill rate decreases there can often be little change in the taxes payable. Inversely, when the assessed value of a property decreases and the mill rate increases there can be little change in taxes payable.
