Bylaws

The Town of Claresholm, being a municipality in the Province of Alberta, passes bylaws under the authority of the Municipal Government Act, RSA 2000, Chapter M-26.  You can access the entire document HERE.

Section 3 of the Act states that:

The purposes of a municipality are:
a) to provide good government;
b) to provide services, facilities, or other things that, in the opinion of council,
are necessary or desirable for all or a part of the municipality; and
c) to develop and maintain safe and viable communities.

The Town of Claresholm strives to ensure that our community is safe and viable, and has passed various bylaws in this effort. Please find a listing of current bylaws in the sidebar to the left. ***UPDATE***The Town recently passed two new bylaws, updating some outdated ones. Bylaw #1545, the Cemtery Bylaw, and Bylaw #1550, the Traffic Bylaw, both passed third reading on October 24, 2011.
